IRCTC Down: Several users faced inconvenience while booking train tickets on Saturday, as they reported an outage on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. There were multiple reports of IRCTC outage on Downdetector, a website tracking outages of different platforms and services.

Nearly 116 users complained about facing issues related to train ticket booking via the IRCTC website and mobile applications at 10 am. The IRCTC outage occurred during the Tatkal booking timings for sleeper and AC coaches, creating trouble for users.

IRCTC Outage: Trouble Using IRCTC App, Website

As per Downdetector, around 51% complaints were related to the IRCTC application, whereas 46% complaints were related to the IRCTC website. Some users shared that they were unable to log in to the IRCTC website.

The recent IRCTC outage has come against the backdrop of a sharp surge in the number of travellers due to the festive season rush. Due to the ongoing Chath Puja celebrations and the conclusion of Diwali festival week, there has been a sharp surge in passenger traffic over the past few days.

Following Diwali celebrations, many people are travelling to their hometowns in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the Chhath festival. Railway stations in these areas are witnessing large crowds as passengers attempt to secure seats on already packed trains. Despite additional security and management measures, the volume of travellers remains high, leading to overcrowded platforms and long queues at ticket counters.

How To Book Train Tickets Online When IRCTC Website, App Is Down?

The Indian Railways recently launched RailOne, its brand new all-in-one mobile application for train ticket booking. People can book their train tickets online using the RailOne app, including Tatkal and other categories like unreserved, platform ticket, etc.

Train passengers are required to download and install the RailOne application on their mobile phones. They can login using their IRCTC id and passwords. Once after successful login and Aadhaar authentication, passengers can book their tickets using the platform.

While RailOne can offer an easier alternative to IRCTC website and application, several users have also faced inconvenience using the application in some situations.

IRCTC Outage: Users Complain About Trouble In Ticket Booking

The surge in online ticket booking attempts has further strained the IRCTC system, causing repeated slowdowns and outages. Regular commuters have called on authorities to enhance the website's capacity to ensure smoother operations during peak travel seasons. The IRCTC, which manages the country's online train reservation platform, has not yet released an official statement regarding this latest disruption.

Despite efforts to manage the situation with additional security measures, the sheer number of travellers continues to overwhelm railway facilities. This has resulted in crowded platforms and extended waiting times at ticket counters. The increased demand for train tickets during this festive period has put significant pressure on both physical and online booking systems.
