Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his visit to India, citing security concerns after a deadly attack in New Delhi. Despite the delay, he expressed confidence in India's safety and commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.
Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has postponed his visit to India, with his office confirming efforts to arrange a new date. Concerns over security, following a significant terror attack in New Delhi, prompted the delay. The incident, which occurred two weeks ago, was the deadliest in over ten years, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and numerous injuries.
Despite the postponement, Netanyahu's office conveyed his confidence in India's security managed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A statement on X highlighted the robust relationship between the leaders and their nations, with coordination already underway for a rescheduled visit. "The PM has full confidence in India's security under PM Modi, and teams are already coordinating a new visit date," the statement read.

Security Concerns Prompt Delay
The planned visit would have marked Netanyahu's first trip to India since his six-day visit in January 2018. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office underscored the strong bond between India and Israel, stating, "Israel's bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi is very strong."
Netanyahu, originally set to visit India by the year's end, has now postponed the trip for the third time this year. The last visit, a significant diplomatic event, was only the second instance of an Israeli Prime Minister visiting India. This delay highlights ongoing security evaluations and their impact on international diplomatic engagements.
Expressions of Condolence and Solidarity
Following the New Delhi attack, Netanyahu expressed condolences to the Indian government and its citizens. He assured solidarity with India, emphasising that terror would not deter the strong resolve of both nations. "India and Israel are ancient civilizations that stand on eternal truths. Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls," Netanyahu stated on X.
In a heartfelt message, Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, extended their deepest sympathies to the victims' families, reinforcing Israel's support during this challenging period. "To our dear friend Narendra Modi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time," the post read.
Strengthening Diplomatic Ties
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently met with Netanyahu during his three-day visit to Israel. This meeting underscored the ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between the two nations. Such engagements highlight the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relationships amid global challenges.
