After several complaints of delay in processing Income Tax refunds despite filing returns ahead of time, the Tax Department said that it happening due to as the system is in the middle of a technical upgrade.
One taxpayer, took to Twitter on 14 November complaining that despite filing ITR for the financial year 2019-20 in July and subsequently e-verifying it, his refund has not been processed nor has his complaint on the e-filing website.

However, the tweet did not mention any timeline on when it will migrate to CPC 2.0 and when the returns will start processing for the assessment year 2020-21.
The CPC or centralised processing centre of the IT department in Bengaluru is where all the IT returns are processed. With 2.0, the department is expanding its capacity and upgrading technology to provide better services to the taxpayers through pre-filled forms and reducing time for refunds.
