S Jaishankar tour covers Gulf meetings, UN Security Council 2028-29 bid launch, and India-EU TTC

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar begins a six-nation tour covering Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, followed by visits to New York and Brussels. The Ministry of External Affairs says the trip will advance India-Gulf relations, review regional developments, launch India’s UN Security Council 2028-29 campaign, and support India-EU Trade and Technology Council talks.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to begin a six-nation tour from Sunday. The schedule includes Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Belgium and the US. The Ministry of External Affairs said the trip spans the Gulf, New York and Brussels. It will cover bilateral talks, a UN campaign launch, and a key India-EU technology meeting.

The MEA said S Jaishankar will visit Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman from July 5 to 10. S Jaishankar is expected to meet counterparts and national leadership in each country. The ministry said discussions will aim to strengthen bilateral ties. Talks will also cover regional developments and other shared concerns.

S Jaishankar’s Gulf travel takes place amid changing politics in the region. The MEA linked the timing to "fast-evolving political dynamics\" after a peace agreement between the US and Iran. The four-country leg is planned before the minister moves to other engagements. The ministry did not give further details of planned meetings.

S Jaishankar UN Security Council campaign launch in New York

After finishing engagements in the Gulf, S Jaishankar will travel to New York. The MEA said S Jaishankar will launch India’s official campaign on July 13. The campaign is for India’s UN Security Council tenure for 2028-29. The ministry shared this plan as part of the same tour schedule.

S Jaishankar India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting in Brussels

In the final stage, S Jaishankar will go to Brussels on July 14 and 15. The MEA said S Jaishankar will attend the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting. S Jaishankar will also interact with EU and Belgian counterparts. The MEA described the meeting as part of ongoing India-EU engagement.

The MEA said the Trade and Technology Council was launched in 2022. It was set up to support cooperation on critical technologies. The MEA listed areas including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and cybersecurity. The Brussels meetings are expected to continue work under these themes during the third council session.
