Proposal Submitted for Approval

The proposal for this transformation was presented during the 18th governing body meeting of FCI, held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Saurabh Bhagat. The proposal has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Tourism for approval, paving the way for the institute's elevation.

Infrastructure Enhancements

In addition to the proposed upgrade, the governing body meeting also approved several infrastructure improvements for FCI. These include the purchase of a bus for the institute, the installation of rooftop solar panels, and the creation of a hostel facility within the campus. These enhancements will further support the institute's operations and provide better facilities for students.

Collaboration and Skill Development

The Commissioner Secretary commended FCI's efforts in collaborating with the J&K Police to provide training to jail inmates and kins of martyrs, empowering them with employable skills. FCI's success in conducting various skill development programs in the hospitality sector within the campus and satellite centers was also lauded, as it contributes to creating more entrepreneurs for the industry.

Millet Festival and Industry Engagement

The meeting also decided to organize a mega millet festival, providing a platform for FCI students to showcase their culinary expertise. Industry leaders and professionals will be invited to attend this event, fostering connections and promoting the institute's capabilities.

Furthermore, FCI Jammu has already developed a booklet of millet recipes, showcasing the institute's commitment to innovation and promoting healthy food options.

Collaboration with Industry Leaders

The Commissioner Secretary encouraged FCI to explore opportunities for collaboration with industry leaders. This includes arranging industrial visits for students, as well as inviting industry executives and professionals to visit the institute. These interactions will expose students to the latest trends and developments in the hospitality industry, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful careers.
