Jana Nayagan Release Date: The much-awaited farewell film of Thalapathy Viijay, Jana Nayagan, has finally got a release date. The movie featuring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay in lead role will release by July end. The actor-turned politician announced his exit from the film industry after entering into politics. However, his last movie, Jana Nayagan, saw multiple delays in its theatrical release, which was scheduled for January this year.

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's Jana Nayagan is likely to be released by July end as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) review is complete, reported SCREEN citing sources on Thursday, July 2. The CBFC has made observations on the movie and the list of revisions needed for certification is being sent to the production team. The movie is likely to be released in July and an A-certification is expected, reported Indian Express' premium entertainment vertical. So far there has been no official confirmation regarding the same and Goodreturns couldn't independently verify the development.

"Everything is going according to plan, and we are definitely looking at the July end week, or August first week window for the release," SCREEN quoted Suprith Mohan, business head of KVN Productions.

CBFC Returns The Film With Revisions

The CBFC has returned the film with revisions that must be edited and filed by the producers. The team is also expected to move ahead with dubbing work shortly. If the revisions are accepted without further delay, the release campaign could restart within weeks.

The movie was initially scheduled to be released on January 9, 2026, during the Pongal release window. That period is among the most lucrative slots for Tamil cinema, especially for major star-led films. The delay therefore affected not only the release calendar but also theatre programming and trade expectations.

Following these setbacks, the producers dropped the legal challenge and opted to submit 'Jana Nayagan' again to the CBFC's revising committee for another assessment, a move that extended the delay and kept fans waiting for clarity on when Vijay's film will finally reach theatres or digital platforms.
