Jewellery Heist Worth Rs 25 Crore In Delhi Was Planned By A Single Man; Know Who Is He And Other Details Here
The Rs 25 crore jewellery heist that has recently sent shockwaves in the national capital Delhi was planned and executed by a single man, although it looked as if the heist was the handiwork of a sophisticated gang of criminals. Lokesh Srivas, a 32-year-old who hails from Chhattisgarh, was nabbed on Friday morning in Chhattisgarh in connection with the robbery of a jewellery shop in Delhi's Bhogal area.
The theft at Umrao Jewellers in Delhi's Bhogal area is seen as the biggest such robbery in the national capital. During the investigation, it came to the limelight that Srivas reached Delhi from Chhattisgarh earlier this month. After a brief observation, he realized that the jewellery shop remains closed on Mondays.

In line with his plan on Sunday night, he entered the shop via the terrace of an adjoining building and camped out inside for hours, before leaving on Monday with Rs 20-25 crore gold and diamond jewellery and some cash.
Police was shocked to see how the heist was planned- in addition to stealing all the jewellery on display, the robber also used a gas cutter to enter the strong room and stole jewellery from there also. He spent 15-20 hours inside the shop before decamping on Monday with around 30kg of jewellery and Rs 5 lakh cash.
Is Lokesh Srivas A Habitual Criminal?
Lokesh Srivas is not a first-time criminal, which means this is not the first time that he is indulged in any criminal activity.
He was wanted by Chhattisgarh Police for a series of robberies in the state. Interestingly, his most recent robbery took place on August 25 in Chhattisgarh, just days before he left for Delhi.
In Delhi, police investigated footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras "which revealed that a suspect carrying a backpack was found entering the adjoining building at around 10.45 pm on September 24. The same suspect could be seen leaving the building around 5 pm on September 25," said Rajesh Deo, DCP (southeast), according to Times of India.
When the Police searched online, they found a similar picture of a man arrested in Chhattisgarh for robbing a house of Rs 3.5 crore.
Meanwhile, an associate of Srivas named Shiva Chandravanshi was arrested by Chhattisgarh Police. He told cops that his friend had carried out a 'big' theft in Delhi. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Srivas had big plans to change his appearance through plastic surgery
According to the Police, Srivas is a dangerous criminal who was wanted for several audacious robberies. In the month of August, he carried out a string of 10 robberies before leaving for Delhi and executing the big jewellery heist plan.
According to the Times of India, Srivas also had plans to change his appearance through plastic surgery and expand his criminal operations. However, the Police caught him before he could put this plan into action.
