At the time of writing, Jio Platforms stock stood at Rs 1402.65 apiece on BSE, down by 2% which is near its intraday low of Rs 1,400 apiece. The company's market also pulled away from Rs 13 lakh crore mark to Rs 12,95,526.46 crore in the closing bell.
In the early trade, Jio traded to hit an intraday high of Rs 1,476.15 apiece and posted gains of over 3.1%. The stock in the early session was closer towards its 52-week high of Rs 1,490 apiece.
The latest downfall does not mean Jio's stock has lost its potential. The stock is still up by 17% from its IPO issue price of Rs 1,199. The current selloffs could be attributed to investors cashing in their gains.
Jio Platforms posted a 13.7% YoY growth in net profit to Rs 7,764 crore in Q2FY27, while its revenue from operations climbed by 11.4% YoY to Rs 40,475 crore. JPL delivered double-digit Revenue growth across Connectivity (11%) and Digital Services (16%), while its EBITDA growth of ~17% Y-o-Y was led by revenue growth and operating leverage (margin improvement of 250 bps Y-o-Y).
Further, Jio crossed twin milestones of 30 million Fixed Broadband and 300 million 5G mobility subscriber base. Its total subscriber base of over 542 million with trailing twelve months net adds of 36 million. The company's monthly ARPU climbed to Rs 218.8 per user from Rs 215.6 in Q1FY27 and Rs 211.4 in Q2FY26.
According to analysts at Elara Capital, Jio Platforms (JPL) reported strong topline growth (3.3%/11.4% qoq/yoy), driven by 9.1 million subscriber addition vs 8.9 million in 1Q and 1.5% qoq ARPU growth to
Rs218.8. EBITDAM expanded by 100bps qoq on account of 0.7% qoq decline in network operating expenses. With EBITDA margin expansion flow-through, PAT margin expanded by 90bps qoq to 20.7%.
Further, the analysts pointed out that unlike other telecom companies, JPL is focusing on co-creation of digital services and exporting its technology to drive higher profitability. After the IPO in 3QFY27, the company has used Rs275 billion of the Rs300 billion IPO net proceeds toward repayment of ECBs, thereby reducing finance costs.
"We view the telecom business as a cash cow, with 51%/52% EBITDA margin in FY27E/FY28E, respectively, high operating leverage, and declining capex supporting FCF generation. The tariff hike, initially anticipated in Dec-25, has been pushed forward by the consensus," added analysts note.
Also, they pointed out that the management stated that it is not seeing tariff hike as the only lever for growth and that increasing penetration of digital services will drive revenue growth. Accordingly, they said, "We build in 15.5% revenue CAGR over FY26-29E, leading to 17.8% EBITDA CAGR due to operating leverage."
