Jump in Gold & Silver Rates Today in India After Sharp Drop: Check Latest 22K, 24K & 18K Gold Prices on 2 May

Gold and silver prices in India opened on a positive note on Saturday, May 02, 2026, recovering after the sharp decline seen a day earlier. While gold registered a modest rebound across 24 Karat (24K), 22 Karat (22K) and 18 Karat (18K) categories, silver prices witnessed a sharp surge.

The rise in bullion rates at the beginning of May is supported by easing global cues, including a decline in oil prices and a weakening U.S. dollar, which boosted overall market sentiment.

Silver prices also registered a strong surge, continuing their upward momentum after gains in the previous session. On Saturday, May 02, 2026, the price of silver in India stands at Rs 265 per gram and Rs 2,65,000 per kilogram, witnessing a sharp jump of Rs 10,000 per kg after a rise of Rs 5,000 per kg on Friday.

"Gold and silver slipped to one-month lows amid stalled US-Iran talks and the Strait of Hormuz closure, which has severed roughly 20% of global oil supply - the largest supply shock on record per the IEA. Rising energy costs, a stronger dollar, and firm inflation expectations are compounding headwinds for precious metals," said Mr. Prithviraj Kothari, MD at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., President of India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd.
