Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured Foxconn of full support from his government. He urged the Taiwanese electronics giant to increase its investments in the state. The assurance came during a dinner meeting with Young Liu, CEO and Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group Foxconn, and his team at a private hotel.

Foxconn's Major Projects in Karnataka
Foxconn is establishing an iPhone assembly plant, Project Elephant, in Karnataka. The company has acquired 300 acres in the ITIR Industrial Area, located in Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluk of Bengaluru Rural District. This project involves an investment of Rs 22,000 crore and is expected to create over 50,000 jobs. Construction is currently underway.
Additionally, Foxconn is setting up a facility for manufacturing and assembling mechanical components for EV applications under Project Cheetah. The company has leased private land in Bengaluru District for this venture. The C&I Commerce & Industries Department, along with other relevant departments, is working on securing all necessary licenses for these projects.
Government's Commitment to Support
During his address at the dinner meeting, Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka's strengths in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. He stated, "Karnataka has established itself as a powerhouse in the ESDM sector." He noted that several leading ESDM players operate within the state, contributing significantly to India's electronics manufacturing output and exports.
The Chief Minister emphasised the state's comprehensive advantages for competitive electronics manufacturing. These include efficient logistics, reliable power supply, a skilled workforce, and a resilient vendor base. "Our government assures you of our complete support and commitment to ensure Foxconn gets all the assistance required in this process," he added.
Employment Opportunities and Economic Boost
Siddaramaiah expressed pleasure over the employment opportunities that Foxconn's projects will create within the state. "This not only boosts the local economy but also empowers our workforce and enhances the overall prosperity of the region," he said. He also requested Foxconn to further invest in Karnataka, highlighting the state's potential for investment.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil, Minister for Information Technology Priyank Kharge, and senior officials were present at the meeting. Earlier in the day, Minister Patil received Young Liu at the airport along with Kharge and other officials.
In a post on X, Minister Patil stated, "Foxconn's forthcoming investments in the state are poised to significantly contribute to Karnataka's growth trajectory. I look forward to productive discussions."
The government is actively planning and implementing power and water supply specific to Foxconn's projects. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that all necessary resources are available to support these significant investments.
The meeting underscored the importance of deepening and strengthening the collaborative relationship between Foxconn and Karnataka. Siddaramaiah remarked, "This partnership is of immense importance, and I am honoured to be part of an initiative that holds such significant potential for mutual growth and success."
Karnataka continues to position itself as a favourable destination for electronics manufacturing investments. The state's proactive approach aims to attract more global players like Foxconn to contribute to its economic development.
The ongoing projects by Foxconn are expected to have a substantial impact on employment and economic growth in Karnataka. The government's commitment to providing necessary support highlights its dedication to fostering a conducive environment for such large-scale investments.
Overall, these initiatives reflect Karnataka's strategic efforts to enhance its position as a leader in electronics manufacturing while ensuring sustainable economic growth through job creation and infrastructure development.
