Monsoon Continues To Advance Across India

Days after arriving in Kerala, Monsoon continues to advance across the Arabian peninsula. The southwest monsoon is one of the major source of rain in India. It begins in June and remains till September. Monsoon accounts for nearly 70% of the country's annual rainfall. It also makes it a crucial source of water for agriculture, reservoirs, and drinking water supplies and hydropower generation.

As the monsoon is strengthening over the Arabian Sea, Karnataka is set to face heavy rainfall in the next two to three days.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory Due To Monsoon

In the wake of IMD's heavy rainfall alert, Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a public advisory warning residents of possible traffic disruptions and waterlogging. The traffic police have urged Bengaluru residents to stay aware and avoid travelling via routes that include low lying areas and are prone to flooding. The traffic advisory came after the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre issued heavy rainfall across the city between June 7 and June 9. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted rainfall in the metro city till June 15.
