Karnataka Rain Alert: Kodagu, Mysuru, Other Districts to Embrace Rainfall; Check Weather in Bangalore Today

Karnataka Rain Alert: Mysore, Kodagu and other districts of south interior Karnataka will receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Friday. The weather in Bangalore will likely remain dry and sunny today as the IMD has predicted dry weather in rest of the state on Friday, March 28.

Several districts in Karnataka have been embracing rainfall over the past few weeks. The meteorological department has released a warning for certain regions of the state in the wake of harsh weather.

According to the Bangalore Meteorological Centre, IMD has warned of thunderstorm, lightning and squally weather till March 31. Although the IMD warning for the region didn's specify the districts to be affected by the rainfall, but South Interior Karnataka region generally includes Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, and Tumku districts.

Additionally, the weather forecasting agency has issued warnings for thunderstorms and lightening for North Interior Karnataka region on March 29 and March 30. Bagalkote, Belagavi, Ballari (including Vijayanagar), Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Bijapur, etc are the districts that come in the region.

"Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed 30-50 kmph) likely over North Interior Karnataka on 29th & 30th , Konkan & Goa on 29th; Marathawada on 30th; Kerala & Mahe, South Interior Karnataka during 27th -31st; Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 27th, 30th & 31st March," said IMD in its latest bulletin released on March 27. The maximum temperature was below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) in several districts of South Interior Karnataka.


Bangalore Weather Today

Bangalore is unlikely to receive any rainfall on Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are likely to hover between 34 degree celsius and 21 degrees Celsius. However, the city may receive some respite from scorching weather due to partly cloudy skies.

On Marcy 27, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. There was no rainfall recorded on Thursday. Whereas relative humidity declined from 68% during Thursday morning to 40% in the evening.


When will it rain in Bangalore?

According to The Weather Channel, Bangalore will likely experience rainfall and thunderstorms from 3 April and the temperature will reduce gradually from the first half of April. Minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to reduce gradually in April's first week.

Earlier this week, IMD had issued a red alert for thunderstorms and hailstorms in isolated areas of Karnataka's Uttara Kannada, Dharwad, and Shivamoga for Tuesday evening. In line with the red alert issued by the weather department, several areas of the state witnessed heavy rainfall on Wednesday. There was a rare incident of hailstorm in another region of Karnataka last week. According to local reports, Kakkinje in Belthangady taluk received rare episodeof hailstorm, where local residents experienced icy pellets raining down from sky. Additionally, several other towns including Mangaluru, Puttur, Uppinangady, Subrahmanya, received heavy rainfall and bringing down the temperature during scorching summer season.
