Karnataka Raises Asian Games 2026 Rewards: Check How Much Gold, Silver & Bronze Winner Received

Karnataka govt has increased the cash incentives for athletes winning medals at major international sporting events, with Asian Games 2026 medallists now set to receive substantially higher rewards.

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister G Parameshwara felicitated Karnataka's Asian Games 2026 medallists at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, October 6. The state government also announced a new participation incentive for athletes who represented Karnataka at the Games.

According to the newly revised scheme, a gold medallist will now receive Rs. 1 crore, while silver and bronze medallists will receive Rs. 75 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh, respectively.

Earlier gold medalist used to get Rs. 35 lac while silver medalist used to get Rs. 25 lac and Bronze medalist used to get Rs.15 lac each
Govt has announced this increase to encourage the performance of Karnataka athletes and sportspersons to compete at the highest level.

20 Karnataka Athletes To Get Rs. 5 Lakh Participation Incentive

For the first time, the Karnataka government has also announced a separate Rs. 5 lakh participation incentive for every Karnataka athlete who qualified for and competed at the Asian Games. A total of 20 athletes will receive the participation incentive.

This payment is separate from the medal reward. Therefore, athletes who won medals will receive both the applicable medal prize money and the Rs. 5 lakh participation incentive.

The 20 athletes represented Karnataka in different sports including athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, equestrian, golf, hockey, shooting, swimming, table tennis and sport climbing.

Eight Karnataka athletes won medals at the Asian Games, with the government announcing a combined Rs. 8 crore in medal rewards.
M R Poovamma :She won two gold medals at the Games in the women's 4x400m relay and silver in the mixed 4x400m relay. Her combined medal reward comes to Rs .1.75 crore.

Pranavi S Urs: She secured gold in the women's individual golf event and silver in the women's team golf event. She will receive ₹1.75 crore as the medal incentive.

Shreyanka Patil: Cricketer Shreyanka Patil was part of India's gold-winning women's cricket team. She will receive Rs. 1 crore for the gold medal.

Mohith H S: Hockey player Mohith H S was part of the gold-winning men's hockey team. He will also receive Rs. 1 crore.

Aditi Ashok: Golfer Aditi Ashok won silver in the women's team golf event. Her medal incentive is Rs. 75 lakh.

Tilottama Sen: Shooter Tilottama Sen won silver in the women's 50m rifle 3-positions team event. She will receive Rs. 75 lakh.

Ayush Shetty: Badminton player Ayush Shetty won a bronze medal as part of the men's badminton team. His reward is Rs. 50 lakh.
Sneha S S: Athlete Sneha S S won bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay. She will receive Rs. 50 lakh.

Sports Quota In Government Jobs

The Karnataka government has also announced a big employment benefit for accomplished sportspersons. Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallists will be eligible for direct recruitment to Group-B government posts. The appointments will be made through a committee headed by the Chief Secretary.

Karnataka has also introduced a 2% reservation for accomplished sportspersons in direct recruitment to Group-A, Group-B, Group-C and Group-D posts, according to reports on the government's decision.
