Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rain in Several Districts, Check Details For Bangalore Weather Today

IMD Alert: Several Karnataka districts, including Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, etc will witness light rain and thundershower districts on Wednesday, March 26. Meanwhile, Bangalore weather today, is likely to remain cloudy with maximum temperature hovering around 24 degree Celsius.

IMD had issued a red alert for Uttara Kannada, Dharwad, and Shivamogga on Tuesday. The weather forecasting agency had also predicted rainfall at isolated places over Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts.

"Light rain/thundershowers likely to occur at a few places over Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada districts and at isolated places over Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts. Dry weather likely to prevail over rest of the State," said IMD in its latest bulletin

Meanwhile, no large change is likely to be witnessed in maximum temperatures for the next 24 hours over the north interior Karnataka. The region may witness an incerase in temperature by 204 degrees Celsius by the end of the week.

For south interior Karnataka region, there can be a gradual increase in temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter. However, no large change in maximum temperatures will be witnessed in coastal Karnataka for the next five days. The phase of stable weather will be followed by gradual increase in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees celsius over Interior Karnataka.

Bangalore Weather Update

The IMD has predicted partly cloudy sky in Bengaluru. The city is unlikely to witness any rainfall today, ie Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Bangalore are likely to be around 34°C and 22°C, respectively.

On Tuesday, temperature variations were significant across Karnartaka. The maximum temperature was recorded in Kalaburgi at 38.6 degree Celsius, whereas, Kodagu recorded a maximum temperature of 31.9 degree Celsius.
On Saturday, Bangalore embraced the first rainfall of the season, which brought immense relief to people from the scorching heat in the month of March. The unexpected shower of rain was accompanied with much-needed cool breez, but heavy downpour also led to severe waterlogging, traffic congestion, and flight disruptions.

The sudden rainfall impacted flight operations, with at least 19 flights diverted from Bengaluru to various destinations. Among them, 10 were rerouted to Chennai due to adverse weather conditions, according to airport officials.IndiGo Airlines advised passengers to regularly check their flight status and have provided flexible rebooking options and refunds through their website.

The single episode of rainfall in Bangalore on Saturday led to severe waterlogging in many areas and increased traffic jam many other regions. According to IMD data, the city received 3.6 mm of rainfall with thunderstorms between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM on Saturday. The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued warnings and advisories to commuters, urging them to take alternative routes. Hunsmaranahalli emerged as one of the worst-hit areas in Bangalore due to Saturday's rainfall. The city area witnessed severe waterlogging causing significant congestion, affecting routes leading to Kempegowda International Airport. Traffic authorities later managed to clear the water, restoring normal traffic flow.
