Karnataka Weather Alert: Thunderstorm Warning In Southern Districts Till Sept 20; Rain Likely In Bengaluru

Karnataka Weather Today: Some major parts of Karnataka are expected to face rain and thunderstorms over the coming days, with the South Interior Karnataka area under a thunderstorm warning from September 16 to September 19, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Similarly, North Interior Karnataka has been put under a thunderstorm and lightning warning for September 18 and 19. No warning has been issued.

Karnataka Rain Forecast Today

For September 16, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are possible over parts of South Interior Karnataka.
The latest rainfall forecast indicates that heavy rain/thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely at one or two places over Chamarajanagara, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar and Bengaluru Rural.

Other parts of South Interior Karnataka may also see light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds.
In Coastal Karnataka, light to moderate rain is likely at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

Meanwhile, Raichur, Koppal and Yadgir in North Interior Karnataka could receive light rain at one or two places.

Bengaluru Weather Today

Bengaluru is also likely to see changing weather conditions, with generally cloudy skies and rain or thundershowers towards the evening or night.

The city recorded 27.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24-hour, while the maximum temperature was 31°C.

More Rain Likely From September 19?

The IMD forecast says that the rainfall activity could increase across parts of Karnataka from around September 19, with a possibility of good rainfall in several areas.

The weather system over the Bay of Bengal is the main factor behind the potential increase in rainfall activity.

So Residents should therefore be prepared for the possibility of evening or nighttime showers and thunderstorms. Since due to rainfalls power cuts are possible in those areas.

People should also avoid waterlogged places. Take a detour to avoid traffic which is mainly impacted during the times of rainfall.
