Karnataka Weather Boils Under Heatwave: Bengaluru Sizzles At 38°C; IMD Issues Fresh Warning
Karnataka Weather is currently battling an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring across multiple districts and raising concerns about prolonged hot conditions. According to the latest updates by the Indian Meteorological Department, several parts of North Karnataka have recorded temperatures above 41°C, while Bengaluru is also experiencing a sharp rise in heat levels.

Heatwave intensifies across Karnataka
The ongoing heatwave has pushed temperatures to extreme levels, especially in northern districts. Cities like Kalaburagi have reported temperatures in the range of 44-45°C, making it one of the hottest regions in the state. Other districts such as Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayapura are also experiencing severe heat, with temperatures crossing the 40°C mark.
Even relatively cooler regions are not spared. The data shows that districts like Bagalkote, Koppal, and Bidar are consistently recording maximum temperatures above 40°C, indicating a widespread heatwave across Karnataka.
Bengaluru temperature nears 38°C
In Bengaluru, temperatures have climbed significantly in recent days. The city has recorded around 36.6°C recently, with forecasts suggesting that temperatures could touch 38°C. Areas such as Bengaluru Urban and South are already seeing maximum temperatures above 38°C, which is higher than the seasonal average.
The rising heat in Bengaluru is particularly noticeable due to the city's otherwise moderate climate, making the current conditions uncomfortable for residents.
IMD forecast: Hot and dry conditions to continue
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that dry and sunny weather is likely to persist across Karnataka over the next few days. While there may be scattered cloud cover in the afternoons, it is unlikely to bring significant relief from the heat.
Hot winds are expected to continue, especially in interior regions, further intensifying the heatwave conditions. Authorities have advised people to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak afternoon hours.
Thunderstorm warnings offer limited relief
IMD forecasts also mention the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Karnataka, including north and south interior regions. However, these are expected to be brief and scattered, meaning they will not significantly reduce the overall temperature.
District-wise temperature
Recent temperature data reveal that several districts are experiencing extreme heat:
Kalaburagi: 42.9°C
Raichur: 42.5°C
Yadgir: 42.3°C
Ballari: 41°C
Bidar: 41.8°C
Vijayapura: 41.8°C
Advisory for residents
With heatwave conditions intensifying, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid stepping out during peak heat hours, and take necessary precautions. Vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and outdoor workers should be especially cautious.
