Karnataka Weather: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Coastal Districts; Check Bengaluru Weather Forecast

IMD the central weather department has issued a fresh update on the Karnataka weather today forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several coastal districts over the next 24 hours as the southwest monsoon is currently active over the state.

While the coastal belt and parts of the Malnad region are expected to experience intense rain along with strong winds, Bengaluru weather today is likely to be generally filled with cloudy skies with light to moderate showers.

IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Coastal Karnataka

IMD has put Dakshina Kannada under a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning, with isolated places expected to receive intense showers accompanied by surface winds of 30-40 kmph.

Several other districts have also been placed under a heavy rain watch, where heavy rainfall along with strong winds (30-40 kmph) is likely over the next 24 hours. These include:

  • Udupi
  • Gadag
  • Haveri
  • Kalaburagi
  • Koppal
  • Raichur
  • Vijayapura
  • Yadgir

Heavy Rain Likely Across Malnad Region

The Malnad region and the Western Ghats are also expected to bear the burnt of active monsoon conditions.

According to the IMD, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu are likely to receive heavy rainfall with strong by winds reaching 30-40 kmph due to strong monsoon currents over the Western Ghats.

Bengaluru Weather Today

For Bengaluru weather, the IMD has forecast a relatively pleasant monsoon day with generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall in isolated parts of the city over the next 24 hours. However, strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph are also expected during rain spells.

Although there is no extremely heavy rainfall forecast for Bengaluru weather , intermittent showers and strong winds could have an impact on traffic during peak commuting hours, particularly on flyovers and major roads.

Light to Moderate Rain Forecast for South Interior Karnataka

Apart from Bengaluru, several districts in South Interior Karnataka are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall with 30-40 kmph winds.
