Karnataka Weather News: 9 Days Of Heavy Rain Likely As Monsoon Gains Strength; IMD Issues Alert
As the south west monsoon is slowly arriving, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a fresh weather alert for several parts of the state, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the coming days.

According to the latest Karnataka weather forecast, thunderstorms along with strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph are likely in parts of North Interior Karnataka (NIK), while widespread rainfall activity is expected to intensify across Coastal Karnataka, Malnad and South Interior Karnataka (SIK) during the first week of June.
Karnataka Rain Forecast: Heavy Rainfall Likely From June 3
As per the latest karnataka rainfall forecast issued on June 1, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected across Karnataka over the next few days. Weather officials have indicated that rainfall activity will gradually increase from June 3 onwards, particularly along the coastal belt.
Coastal Karnataka is expected to see widespread light to moderate rainfall from June 3. The intensity of rain is likely to increase majorly between June 6 and June 9, bringing widespread heavy rainfall to several coastal districts. The Malnad region is also likely to receive widespread moderate to heavy rain between June 7 and June 9.
Thunderstorm Alert For North Interior Karnataka
The weather department has warned that thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 50-60 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over North Interior Karnataka on June 1. Additionally, thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected at isolated locations across the region between June 1 and June 5.
Residents in districts falling under North Interior Karnataka have been advised to remain cautious, especially during evening and nighttime hours when thunderstorm activity is expected to be more pronounced.
Coastal Karnataka To receive Thunderstorms And Lightning
According to the weather forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places across Coastal Karnataka on June 1 and June 2. Thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning is also expected over Coastal Karnataka from June 3 to June 5.
With rainfall intensity expected to increase further during the week, authorities have urged fishermen, commuters and residents living in low-lying areas to monitor weather updates regularly.
South Interior Karnataka Weather Forecast
South Interior Karnataka is also likely to witness unstable weather conditions. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected at isolated places on June 1, while winds of 30-40 kmph may continue from June 2 to June 4.
The forecast further indicates that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely over South Interior Karnataka on June 1 and June.
IMD Issues Advisory
Weather experts have advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms and to remain indoors whenever lightning activity is reported. Farmers, outdoor workers and travellers are particularly advised to stay updated with local weather alerts.
As heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds continue to dominate the forecast, residents are advised to remain alert and follow advisories issued by local authorities and disaster management agencies.
