Karnataka Weather on Orange Alert: IMD Issues Very Heavy Rain Warning Amid 40% Rainfall Deficit
Karnataka weather is going to turn super rainy as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for parts of the state, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. The orange alert has been issued for Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts, where heavy rain along with 30-40 kmph winds is likely at one or two places.

Meanwhile, weather in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and several other districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall during the forecast period.
IMD Orange Alert for Coastal Karnataka
According to the IMD, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are under an Orange Alert, with the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents have been advised to remain alert, as intense showers could cause waterlogging, flooding in some areas, and traffic disruptions.
Moderate Rain Expected Across North Karnataka
Weather in North Karnataka is expected to be moderately rainy as per KSNMDC. The weather department has forecast rainfall with sustained winds of 30-40 kmph at places including Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir

For Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural, the IMD has predicted light rain with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph over the next 24 hours.
Light showers are also likely in, Ballari, Chamarajanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagara
Bengaluru, where today is expected to be pleasant with cloudy skies, occasional rain spells and breezy throughout the day.
Rainfall Deficit In Karnataka
This monsoon season in the state has been satisfactory in terms of rainfall received. Karnataka has seen a sharp decline in rainfall this June, with precipitation remaining below normal across all regions, including Bengaluru.
According to IMD, there is a rainfall deficit of more than 40% in the state. Coastal Karnataka has been the worst affected, receiving just 191 mm of rain against the normal 418 mm, resulting in a 54% rainfall deficit.
The main reason behind this shortfall is El Nino along with other factors.The rainfall deficit could impact agriculture and the economy,
