Karnataka Weather Today: IMD Issues Yellow Alert; These Districts to Witness Heavy Rain Till August 8

IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for several districts across Karnataka, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds over the coming days. Coastal Karnataka weather is expected to bear the brunt of the wet spell, while Bengaluru weather and several interior districts are also likely to see light to moderate showers along with strong winds.

Heavy to Very Heavy Rain Expected in Coastal Karnataka

According to the latest Indian Meteorological Department forecast for the next 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with sustained winds of 30-40 kmph at some places.

Hassan district in Karnataka is also expected to receive heavy rainfall, with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph.

Bengaluru, Mysuru Among Districts Likely to Receive Rain

Light to moderate rainfall with sustained winds of 30-40 kmph is forecast at many places across:

Bengaluru Urban
Bengaluru Rural
Chamarajanagara
Chikkaballapura
Chitradurga
Davangere
Kolar
Mandya
Mysuru
Ramanagara
Tumakuru

Meanwhile, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts are likely to experience light rainfall along with strong winds.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

The weather in Bengaluru city today is expected to be cloudy as per the IMD forecast light to moderate rain can be seen in some areas along with high speed winds, Residents may experience intermittent showers throughout the day, with breezy conditions likely to continue.

IMD Yellow Alert: District-Wise Rain Warning

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for the following districts:

August 4: Hassan & Uttara Kannada
August 5 to August 7: Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru
August 8: Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi

These districts could receive heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.4 mm at isolated locations.

Public Advisory By IMD

Since the rainfall activity is expected to be highly active over the next few days in Karnataka, the IMD has advised residents in the affected districts to stay alert and take necessary precautions. People living in low-lying areas should be cautious of waterlogging, while those travelling through hilly regions should watch out for landslides and slippery roads. Fishermen are also advised to watch all the weather updates before venturing into the sea.
