Karnataka Weather Today: IMD Warns Of Pre-Monsoon Heavy Rain Activity In Bengaluru And Multiple Districts
Karnataka Weather Update: As India slowly moves towards the monsoon season, Bengaluru and several other parts of Karnataka have started experiencing pleasant weather conditions after weeks of heat. Cloudy skies, evening showers and cool winds have brought major relief to residents, while rainfall activity is slowly intensifying across multiple districts in the state.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have now issued a fresh Karnataka weather forecast and rain alert for several districts across the state.
According to the latest IMD Karnataka weather warning issued on May 18, multiple districts across Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka have been placed under yellow and orange alerts due to the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the next few days.
According to the latest Karnataka rainfall update, districts across North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka and Malnad regions recorded significant rainfall during the last 24 hours, signalling increasing pre-monsoon activity across the state.
Dharwad Records Highest Rainfall In Karnataka
As per KSNDMC data, Dharwad district recorded the highest rainfall in the state during the last 24 hours. The Suthagatti station in Dharwad taluk received a maximum rainfall of 86 mm.
Other districts that experienced heavy rainfall include Uttara Kannada's Yadoga area with 64 mm rainfall, Haveri's Gundagatti with 48 mm rainfall, Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district with 52 mm rainfall, Gadag district with 48 mm rainfall and Shivamogga district with 39 mm rainfall.
Several districts including Belagavi, Mysuru, Raichur, Vijayapura, Chamarajanagara, Davanagere and Udupi also reported moderate rainfall activity.
Bengaluru Weather Today, May 18
Bengaluru weather is likely to be warm yet in unstable conditions today, with the city expected to receive rain and thunderstorm activity later in the day. According to Bengaluru weather forecasts by IMD, the maximum temperature in the city may hover around 32°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain near 22°C.
Current weather data suggests there is nearly a 50% chance of rainfall in Bengaluru today and the IMD has predicted isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in several parts of Bengaluru during the evening hours. The city has already been experiencing cloudy skies and humid conditions since morning.

According to the IMD Karnataka weather forecast, dry and sunny weather conditions are likely to continue across most parts of the state during the daytime. However, after noon, partly cloudy skies are expected in several regions. The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places with thunderstorms and lightning activity.
The IMD also warned that North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka and Malnad districts could see some heavy rain over the next two days.

The latest IMD warning for Karnataka indicates thunderstorm and lightning activity in several divisions till May 21.
North Interior Karnataka Weather Warning
In the NIK, IMD has forecast Thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorm possibility in some areas on May 18. Rainfall activity is expected to continue till May 21 before conditions improve later in the week.
South Interior Karnataka Weather Warning
South Interior Karnataka is also likely to feel the impact of Heavy rain in isolated place along with thunderstorms and lightning Bengaluru and nearby districts may see some changing weather patterns with cloudy afternoons and evening rain activity.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity and avoid open areas during lightning and windy weather conditions.
