Bengaluru weather has turned unusually cold, with a cold wave-like situation continuing across the city and many parts of Karnataka. Several districts recorded single-digit minimum temperatures, while Bengaluru and its surrounding areas are experiencing chilly mornings, fog, and mist. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold conditions are likely to persist over the next few days so residents should take precautions.

Bengaluru Temperature Drops
The minimum temperature in Bengaluru dropped significantly, making it one of the coldest spells this winter season. On Monday, Dec 22, Bengaluru City recorded a minimum temp of 14.7°C
Many parts of the city are experiencing cold mornings with fog and mist, especially during early hours.
Cold Wave-Like Conditions Across Karnataka
The cold wave is not limited to Bengaluru alone. Several districts across Karnataka recorded very low minimum temperatures, indicating widespread winter intensity. Bidar recorded the lowest temperature at 7.6°C, making it the coldest place in the state, Bagalkote (8.5°C) and Dharwad (8.6°C) also saw sharp drops. Mysuru (8.7°C), Hassan (9°C), Kodagu (9.1°C), and Belagavi (9.1°C) reported biting cold.
Other districts such as Gadag, Kalaburagi, Uttara Kannada, Chamarajanagara, Chikkamagaluru, Raichur, Haveri, Koppala, Vijayanagara, Vijayapura, Mandya, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Davangere recorded minimum temperatures between 9.5°C and 11.6°C, due to widespread cold wave conditions.
Bengaluru Rural and Surrounding Districts Feel the Chill
Areas surrounding Bengaluru are also reeling under severe cold. Bengaluru Rural recorded 10.7°C, while Bengaluru South and Chikkaballapura reported 10.5°C. Bengaluru Urban saw a minimum temperature of 10.9°C, indicating that both urban and rural pockets are equally affected. Residents in these regions are reporting foggy mornings, reduced visibility, and difficulty stepping out early in the day.
Coastal Karnataka Relatively Warmer
Compared to the interior districts, coastal Karnataka remained relatively warmer. Udupi recorded 15.9°C, while Dakshina Kannada saw a minimum temperature of 16.4°C. Though cooler than usual, coastal areas have not witnessed cold wave conditions like the interior districts.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast
According to the IMD Bengaluru weather forecast, the city will continue to experience misty and foggy mornings, especially in low-lying areas. While some localities may see mist, others could remain fog-covered during early hours. The Expected maximum temperature is around 27°C while the expected minimum temperature is around 15°C
No official weather alerts have been issued for Bengaluru this week, but residents are advised to stay warm and cautious during early morning travel.
