Karur Stampede Update: CM Vijay Heads to Karur, 32 Victims' Families to Receive Government Jobs

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay is headed to Karur today to meet the family of the victim of the unfortunate Karur stampede that occurred on September 27 2025 during the TVK party rally where Vjay was part of it.

This is the first time CM Vijay will be visiting Karur after assuming office as Chief Minister in May this year.

The main agenda of this visit is the job appointment orders to 32 family members of the victims on compassionate grounds.

Post the Karur Stampede incident, the DMK government had announced Rs. 10 lakh compensation for each victim's family. Vijay then gave an additional Rs. 20 lakh to each family.

Security Arrangement for CM Vijay's Visit

CM Vijay is travelling from Tirchy Airport to Karur, and police are expecting thousands of people to gather to get a glimpse of their CM. As per a report by OneIndia Tamil, "Iron barriers have been put forth near the - opposite the Trichy airport, near the IG office, Sanjeevi Nagar, and Chintamani Annamalai - for the public to see Vijay."

Later on, Vijay will join the road show and then address a meeting organised by TVK the city. The program is expected to start at around 3 PM today

The Karur stampede incident has made the administration quite watchful, and they are taking proper measures to avoid such instances in future. As per the report, for this visit, around 6,500 police officers have been deployed for Chief Minister Vijay's visit. Heavy police security has been put in place at several locations, including Sanjeevi Nagar, Kudamurutti Bridge and Karur Road, Pudukkottai Road, and Chennai Bypass Road.

Other Event on the Agenda

CM Vijay's other purpose of the Karur visit is to lay the foundation stone for the Evervan Kothari Footwear Private Limited, near Krishnarayapuram.

As per the Hindu, the facility is being opened with an investment of Rs. 1700 crore. It is a non-leather footwear manufacturing factory and is expected to provide employment to around 13,500 people in Tamil Nadu.
