The special edition of the Vande Bharat Express train will operate from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station to Srinagar. Operation of Vande Bharat Kashmir special train on the route will significantly reduce the traveling time for local commuters.

Reduction in Travelling Time

The Vande Bharat Express train will reduce the travelling time between Srinagar and Katra to three hours. Normally, it takes around six to seven hours for people to travel between the two cities on road, a railway official told The Hindu earlier.
Heating System, Automatic Doors, Anti-Spall Layers
The special edition of Vande Bharat train set to become operational on Jammu and Kashmir route will have high-tech features like automatic doors, heating systems, anti-spall layers, etc. The train has been manufactured in a way that it can be operated smoothly in cold weather, as low as -20 degrees Celsius, reported Livemint.
The Vande Bharat Train will also operate on the world's highest railway arch bridge and Anji bridge constructed on the river Chenab in Reasi district.

Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Railway Link

Vande Bharat special trains will be inaugurated in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link, which is a 272-kilometre-long stretch falling on the Jammu-Baramulla line. It also includes a 111-km Katra Banihal section, which was constructed in January.

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail project includes 119 kilometres of tunnels. In addition to tunnels, it also includes the Anji Khad Bridge, which is the world's highest railway bridge. Additionally, it will also include India's first cable-stayed railway bridge.
The Katra to SrinagarVande Bharat Expresswill have features like heating systems, anti-spall layers, and automatic doors. The train is designed to operate smoothly in cold weather--down to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Railway services are operational between Baramulla, Srinagar and Sangaldan in the Kashmir Valley. As Sangaldan has been connected to Katra in Jammu via rail, trains will be operational on the whole stretch, The Hindu quoted an official in the report.

Vande Bharat Express is a medium to long-distance semi-high speed superfast train. The semi-high speed train services are operated by the Indian Railways as reserved, air-conditioned chair car service connecting cities that are less than 800 kilometre. The train was launched by the PM Modi-government as part of the 'Make in India' initiative. The train entered into its commercial service on 15 February.
