Kerala Gets Its First Gen-Z Post Office Extension Counter at CMS College, Kottayam

India Post has unveiled Kerala's first "Gen-Z Post Office Extension Counter" at CMS College in Kottayam. N.R. Giri, the Director of Postal Services for the Kerala Central Region, inaugurated the new facility. It is designed to connect youth with traditional postal services.

Designed by students

Designed by the Students of CMS College, along with India Post officials it brings a youth friendly atmosphere based on the motto "of the students, by the students, for the students." The post office has picnic-style tables, a vertical garden, and seats made of old tires, showing care for the environment. The interiors are decorated with artwork made by students and staff, featuring India Post, Kerala's heritage, and the cultural identity of Kottayam, known as the "Land of Letters."
Charging points for laptops and mobile phones, recreation corner with a bookshelf, board games, and a reading nook are also provided, where students can enjoy the services in a relaxed mood.

Postal Services

The counter provides full postal services. Customers can book parcels, buy packaging materials, and use the "MyStamp" printer to create personalised stamps with their photos.

India Post has recently redesigned several post offices and extension counters to appeal to Gen Z, including the one at IIT Delhi.

India Post's insurance services include Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI). They also provide electronic money orders, instant transfers, international remittances, and retail services such as bill payments, forms and retail items.
