Kesari 2 Slows Down in Week 3

By Day 16 (May 2), the film collected only Rs 1 lakh, with a major slowdown in earnings. Though it bounced back slightly on Day 17 with ₹1.05 crore, the declining trend signals that Kesari 2 is nearing the end of its theatrical run. With its current pace, Kesari Chapter 2 is expected to cross the Rs. 80 crore mark soon, but reaching the 100 crore milestone may be difficult unless a strong boost comes over the weekend.

As per data from Sacnilk, region-wise, the movie performed best in Chennai, recording an impressive 99% occupancy in afternoon shows, though it had no morning or evening shows. Other major cities like Bengaluru (41%), Pune (36.5%), Hyderabad (36%), and Mumbai (34.5%) also showed decent crowd presence during the day.

Story and Star Cast

Kesari Chapter 2 is based on true events and takes place after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which happened on April 13, 1919, when British soldiers opened fire on a peaceful crowd, killing hundreds of innocent people in Amritsar.
In the movie, Akshay Kumar plays the role of Barrister C. Shankaran Nair, a brave Indian lawyer who decides to fight a legal case against the British government to get justice for the victims of the massacre. He believes that what happened was wrong and wants the world to know the truth.

The movie shows his struggles in the courtroom, how he gathers proof, faces pressure from the British rulers, and even puts his own life at risk to stand up for what is right. The film also stars Ananya Panday, R. Madhavan, Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, and Alexx O'Nell in major roles.
