L2: Empuraan Box Office Collection: The Mohanlal starrer Malayalam film is on the verge of becoming the best Mollywood movie of 2025. Released on March 27, Empuraan has recorded about Rs 50 crore pre-sales worldwide. The thriller movie becomes the first Mollywood film to hit Rs 50 crore club on the opening day. So far, the movie has received positive reviews from both fans and critics from its home ground, however, overall, the sentiment is mixed.
L2-Empuraan Box Office Collection:
So far, the box office collection of Empurran is at Rs 13.44 crore in India net, as per Sacnilk data. Overall, the movie saw 58.82% Malayalam Occupancy on Thursday. The occupancy was higher at 63.32% in the morning shows, while the afternoon witnessed 54.32% occupancy in theatres. The highest occupancy on the opening day was seen in Kochi, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kollam, Kottayam, and Hyderabad among others.
Sacnilk data also revealed that Empuraan emerged as the first Malayalam film to register 1 million ticket sales in advance on the online ticketing platform, Book My Show in a matter of two days.
The data showed that on BookMyShow, Empuraan witnessed a record-breaking 628K tickets on the first day, followed by 163K on the second day, 110K on the third day and 100K+ tickets on 4th day. The majority of the tickets were sold in Kerala.
Additionally, the superstar Mohanlal's movie touched the milestone of scoring a 50 crore opening at the worldwide box office, as per Sacknilk. Simply put, on its opening day, the film saw pre-sales worth Rs 5 crore globally on a gross basis. This makes Empuraan the first ever Mollywood film to do so.
Earlier, movies like Bollywood's Chennai Express, Tollywood's Baahubali, Kollywood's Kabali, and Sandalwood's KGF recorded Rs 50 crore opening.

According to Pan India Review, the first half builds excitement with strong elevations, stunning visuals, and a Curious interval block. It added that Lalettan's entry is a major highlight.
