Ladki Bahin Yojana News: 12,000 Men Got Money Under Women Welfare Scheme; When Will Next Instalment Be Out?

Ladki Bahin Yojana: In a major development related to the discrepancies in Maharashtra government's Ladki Bahin Yojana, more than 12,000 accounts of men are allegedly receiving the benefits of the state government's flagship scheme in the state.

More than 12,000 men were registered under the Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme and were receiving the benefit of state government's flagship scheme, according to a Right to Information (RTI) reply for an application filed by RTI activist Ajay Basudev Bose.

Earlier, it was revealed that nearly seventy thousand women registered under the Ladki Bahin Yojana Scheme, also known as Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, were government employees. Fake Ladki Bahin Yojana beneficiaries have costed crores to the Maharashtra government. In a bid to tackle with fake registration under the scheme and other Ladki Bahin Yojana scam, the state government is actively carrying out verification process of the beneficiaries and taking action against ineligible Ladki Bahin Yojan registrations.

Maharashtra Minister Reacts to Ladki Bahin Yojana Scam

Reacting to the registration of thousands of male in a welfare scheme for women, Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi S Tatkare assured of strict action against fraudsters.

The Maharashtra minister on Wednesday said that the government is scrutinising the accounts of over 12,000 men who allegedly availed the benefit of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Laadki Bahin Yojana, reported PTI.

"We are scrutinising the 12,000 accounts to verify their authenticity and to check whether the monthly assistance meant for women is being credited to a male member of the household," PTI quoted Tatkare as saying on Wednesday.

Ladki Bahin Yojana Instalment

The latest Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment was released in August on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. Minister Aditi S Tatkare had earlier announced that the state government will disburse the latest instalment of the scheme early in August on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.

When Will Next Ladki Bahin Yojana Instalment Be Released?

The minister had earlier said that the state government had blocked thousands of accounts of Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme beneficiaries who were found to be ineligible for it. The next Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment is likely to be disbursed in September. However, there is no confirmation about the next Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment date.

Earlier, Tatkare had said in a reply at Maharashtra Assembly that Ladki Bahin Yojana (also called Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana) instalment for June month was released earlier. Additionally, lakhs of fake beneficiaries of the scheme were eliminated from the list.

What is Ladki Bahin Yojana?

The Maharashtra government introduced a welfare initiative known as the Ladki Bahin Yojana, alternatively referred to as the Ladki Bahini Yojana or Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana. This program is designed to provide financial assistance to women between the ages of 21 and 65. Through this scheme, qualified women will receive a sum of Rs 1,500 each month, which will be deposited directly into their bank accounts. This move aims to empower women within this age bracket by offering them financial support.
