Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana: In a major setback for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, the Maharashtra government has removed nearly 80 lakh beneficiaries from the scheme following the mandatory e-KYC verification process. After the revision of the beneficiary list, only around 1.68 crore women remain eligible to receive the monthly financial assistance under the flagship welfare scheme. The recent development came as lakhs of beneficiaries await the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment for this month.
Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC began in last year and concluded in April. It was mandatory for all the beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC to continue getting the scheme benefits.

Ladki Bahin Yojana Beneficiaries Names Deleted From List
The e-KYC process for the Maharashtra government's flagship scheme was meant to identify ineligible and unverified applicants of Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme. The e-KYC process for the scheme was earlier supposed to end in November 2025. But the government extended the deadline which officially ended on April 30, as per moneycontrol report.

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC
Under the e-KYC verification, the government cross checked Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana beneficiaries eligibility based on different conditions and criteria. Authorities describe the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana clean-up as a records correction step rather than a policy rollback, noting that all existing beneficiaries who completed e-KYC by April 30 will continue to receive support, while those whose names were removed will not get another verification chance under the current decision.
Through the e-KYC verification, officials checked records to filter out ineligible, duplicate, or unverified applications under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.
Maharashtra Govt Reduces Ladki Bahin Yojana Allocation
Maharashtra government in March reduced allocation for the welfare scheme. In the Maharashtra Budget 2026-27, the state government sharply reduced funding for the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana, according to an Indian Express report.
Meanwhile, the uncertainty around the increment in Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment amount continues to remain as it is.Under the welfare scheme, beneficiaries get around Rs 1,500 payout every month, but the Mahayuti government earlier announced that the amount will be raised to Rs 2,100.
As per the IE report, the new budget provides Rs 26,500 crore for the scheme, which is less than the Rs 36,000 crore allocated in the year 2025-26. The earlier outlay for the scheme rose after the state government sought an additional Rs 6,102 crore through supplementary demands during the current financial year.
