Last Date To Update Aadhaar Card For Free Extended To December 14; Check Details Here

If you are someone who hasn't updated Aadhaar Card for a decade, here is an opportunity for you and that too free of cost. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the last date for updating Aadhaar card details free of cost till December 14, 2023.

One should note that updating your Aadhaar Card details can also save you from Aadhaar-related fraud. Thus, Aadhaar holders now have almost three week's time to update the key details on Aadhaar Card. With the extension of the deadline, Aadhaar card holders can avail the benefit of the free document updation facility through the myAaadhar portal.

In order to update Aadhaar details, individuals need to provide the required identity and address proof through the official website. It is to be noted that the cost-free updates are exclusively available online and will not be acceptable at the physical Aadhaar centres.

How/Where can you update your Aadhaar details?

There are two different ways you can get your details updated:-

  • By Visiting the Permanent Enrolment Centre. Search the nearest enrolment centre by clicking on "Locate Enrolment Center" on uidai.gov.in.
  • Online using Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). Click "Update Aadhaar Details (Online)" on uidai.gov.in.

Normally, for updation in Aadhaar, either Demographic or Biometric, you have to pay Rs. 50/- (including taxes) to the service provider each time you get your details updated. You can also click on "Charges for Various UIDAI Services at Aadhaar Kendra (PEC)" on uidai.gov.in for the approved Fee Structure.

What services can be updated at the enrolment centres?

"In case you are visiting the Permanent Enrolment centre, you can get both Demographics (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile & Email) and biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris & Photograph) updated," stated an FAQ published by UIDAI.

How to find your nearest Aadhaar card centre online to update Aadhaar details?

Step 1- Go to https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx to locate an Enrolment / Update center near you.

Step 2- Use any of the three methods to search for an official Aadhaar enrolment and updation centre. One is by state, the second is by pin code, and the third is by search box where one can type in the city, district, etc.

Step 3- If you select the 'show only permanent centres' option, you will see a list of permanent Aadhaar updation centre available in the area. If you don't select the 'show only permanent centres' option, it will show both temporary and permanent Aadhaar centre in an area.

Enter the captcha and then click on the 'Locate a Centre' button.

Step 4: A new webpage will open which will have a list of all the enrolment centres.
