Latest Fuel Prices July 6, 2022: Check Petrol, Diesel Rates

Fuel prices continue to remain steady all across the cities in India after more than a month. Petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged as Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) decide to keep the price same. Prices of petrol remain at Rs 96.72 per litre while the diesel price is recorded at Rs 89.62 per litre in Delhi. In Mumbai, petrol is selling at Rs 111.35 per litre and diesel price is available at Rs 97.28 per litre.

India fulfills 80% of its fuels requirements through imports.

Petrol and diesel prices have been same ever since finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slash in excise duty on these fuels. Nirmala Sitharaman declared an excuse duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel earlier this year on May 21.

The prices of petrol and diesel do not remain same in all the states because of implementation of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges.

It is important to note that public sector oil marketing companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) update prices of fuel everyday keeping in line with benchmark global prices and foreign exchange rates. If any changes in the prices of petrol and diesel occur, it is implemented at 6 AM everyday.

Chandigarh: Petrol: Rs 96.20/litre, Diesel: Rs 84.26/litre
