Electronics components drive Lava International Rs 1,100 crore investment over five years
Lava International plans to invest Rs 1,100 crore over the next five years to widen its role in India’s electronics components supply chain. Executive Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer Sanjeev Agarwal said the firm has opened a mobile charger facility using locally sourced components, targeting costs about 20 per cent lower than earlier units.
Lava International said it planned to invest Rs 1,100 crore over five years. The aim was to expand beyond phones into the electronics components ecosystem. A senior company official shared the plan on Thursday. The company said this shift would support value addition through in-house component making.

Lava Executive Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer Sanjeev Agarwal said Lava could make 4 crore mobile phones. Agarwal said the company wanted to produce key parts itself. Agarwal said, "We have the capacity to make 4 crore mobile phones. We have decided to make all critical components ourselves for value addition. We have plans to invest Rs 1,100 crore in electronics components diversification over the next 5 years,\"
Lava International investment plan for electronics components
Lava International said it had filed a components manufacturing proposal with the government. Managing Director Sunil Raina said the plan was sent for approval. The submission was under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme. The company linked the proposal to its wider push into local component production.
Agarwal said Lava planned to make camera modules and display modules. The plan also included enclosures and multi-layered printed circuit boards. Lava said the mix of products would widen its role in the components supply chain. The company also tied these plans to its long-term investment roadmap.
Lava International electronics components include new mobile charger facility
Agarwal said Lava had set up a new mobile charger facility as part of diversification. Lava said it had started making designed-in-India mobile chargers. The company said the chargers used locally sourced components. The facility was inaugurated on Thursday by Uttar Pradesh electronics and IT minister Sunil Kumar Sharma.
Agarwal said, \"All components have been sourced locally. The cost of the chargers that will be produced at our factory is 20 per cent lower compared to units that we were using earlier,\" Lava said this cost change came from local sourcing and in-house production at the new unit.
Lava International electronics components plant capacity and jobs
Lava said its new component manufacturing unit employed over 3,000 workers. The company said the unit had a production capacity of 2 crore. Lava said it planned to produce 90 lakh units each year. The company said it would expand output by 90 lakh per annum over time.
Agarwal said Lava expected a larger workforce at the site. Agarwal said, \"We have plans to generate employment for nearly 8,500 people at this plant,\" Lava said this target matched the planned scale-up in production and the broader electronics components diversification programme.
