Law Enforcement Agencies Intensify Efforts Against Bomb Threats Targeting Airlines

Law enforcement is actively investigating bomb threats against airlines, with the government closely overseeing the situation, according to Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu. He stated this on Wednesday, following a series of hoax bomb threats affecting at least 19 flights operated by Indian carriers over three days.

Intensified Action on Airline Bomb Threats

Naidu expressed serious concern over these disruptive incidents targeting airlines. He assured that all individuals responsible for these disruptions would be identified and prosecuted. The minister condemned any actions that threaten the safety and security of the aviation sector.

Government's Response to Threats

The Mumbai police have apprehended a minor involved in issuing bomb threats against three flights. Naidu emphasised that he is regularly monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and operational integrity of the aviation industry.

On Monday, Naidu led a high-level meeting with officials from various agencies, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Civil Aviation. This meeting focused on addressing the recent threats and enhancing security measures.

Commitment to Aviation Safety

"I assure all the stakeholders, including passengers and industry partners, that every possible effort is being made to safeguard the operations," Naidu stated. He reiterated the commitment to improving security protocols and maintaining seamless coordination with international security agencies.

The minister's statement highlights the government's dedication to ensuring passenger safety and preventing further disruptions in airline operations. The ongoing efforts aim to reinforce trust in aviation security among travellers and industry stakeholders.
