LPG Cylinder Price Falls: Check Revised Rates In Delhi, Mumbai, & Other Cities

Keeping an eye on the upcoming state and general polls, the BJP-led central government on Tuesday brought down the cooking gas prices by Rs 200 per cylinder for all domestic consumers. The latest move by the union cabinet is likely to offer huge relief to million of people amid high inflation that soared to 15-month high to 7.44% in July. The government has decided to bring back subsidy in cooking gas for consumers after it was discontinued in 2020.

It is important to note that the union cabinet has given its nod for an additional subsidy of Rs 200 under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) thus taking the entire amount of subsidy for Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries to Rs 400.

The latest decision of slashing the price of cooking gas will put a burden of Rs 7,500 crore on the exchequer.

"PM Modi has decided ₹200 reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, for all users...this is a gift from PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam," said Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Earlier, the cost of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi was Rs 1103 and after decline of Rs 200, it will now cost Rs 903 from today onwards (Wednesday). After the decline, the new rate of the 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Mumbai stands at Rs 902.50 (earlier Rs 1102.50), In Kolkata Rs 929.00 (earlier Rs 1129.00), In Chennai Rs 918.50 (earlier Rs 1118.50), Bhopal 908.50 (earlier Rs 1108.50), and in Jaipur Rs 906.50 (earlier Rs 1106.50).
