LPG e-KYC Deadline Extended: LPG consumers who have not yet completed their Aadhaar-based e-KYC have now got some extra time to complete the verification. The LPG e-KYC deadline, which was earlier fixed for August 16th, has reportedly been extended to August 23rd according to the latest communication from oil marketing companies.

The extension was announced because many consumers and LPG distributors were facing technical problems while trying to complete the mandatory biometric Aadhaar authentication.

There were various reports of server outages, app glitches and long queues at LPG dealerships as the previous deadline approached.

LPG e-KYC Deadline: What New Last Date

The LPG e-KYC deadline has been extended from August 16 to August 23rd. So consumers who have not completed their e-KYC should use the additional time to complete the process through their LPG company's authorised channels.

The LPG e-KYC process is expected to make Aadhaar authentication easier by letting consumers complete verification digitally.
However, the rush before the deadline has put a lot of pressure on LPG distributors and digital systems.

At some dealerships, consumers had to wait for a long time to complete biometric verification. When the server or application stops responding, the queue cannot move forward even if the distributor has staff available to process customers. This has created frustration among consumers who may have already spent several hours waiting at LPG agencies.

Who Needs to Complete LPG e-KYC?

The government has clarified that biometric Aadhaar authentication is required for LPG consumers who have not completed e-KYC so far. Consumers who have already completed the required authentication do not need to repeat the process simply because of the latest reminders.

The requirement is particularly relevant for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, for whom biometric Aadhaar authentication is linked to targeted LPG subsidy benefits. The government has said PMUY customers need to complete the process once every financial year for the applicable subsidy requirements.

How to Complete LPG e-KYC Online

Consumers do not necessarily have to visit an LPG distributor to complete the process.

The government has said biometric Aadhaar authentication can be completed from home using the mobile application of the respective oil marketing company along with the Aadhaar FaceRD application. Consumers can use the relevant official platform, such as Indane, Bharatgas, or HP Gas.

Consumers can also approach their authorised LPG distributor for assistance with biometric verification.

What Happens If You Don't Complete LPG e-KYC by August 23?

Consumers who have not completed e-KYC should not ignore the latest deadline. Previously, LPG distributors and oil marketing companies warned that customers who had not completed Aadhaar authentication could face issues with eligibility for domestic-rate LPG or subsidy benefits until the verification was completed.

The Petroleum Ministry has clarified that LPG supply will not be affected just because e-KYC has not been completed. Consumers should therefore complete the verification as soon as possible
