LPG Gas Cylinder E-KYC Crucial: How To Get Free Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Cylinders Before Diwali?

Many states like Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh are going to give free LPG gas cylinders to eligible PMUY customers as part of their Diwali gift. However, the LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication that has become mandatory for LPG subsidy benefits with effect from October 1, 2026, will be crucial.

Free Gas Cylinders Ahead Of Diwali

Delhi: The government of the national capital has declared two free LPG cylinders to all ration card-holding families annually. The occasion will be the Diwali and Holi festivals. The Delhi scheme is further extended to PNG connection holders in the form of cash assistance.

Uttar Pradesh: The Yogi Adityanath-led government is also offering a two-free LPG cylinder scheme, with the first being delivered on Diwali and the second on Holi. The scheme will benefit up to 1.86 crore Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh: Here, the government has launched the "Deepam 2.0 Scheme," under which women holding white ration cards will be eligible for 3 free LPG cylinders per year. This can be booked every four months annually.

Uttarakhand: This state government is also providing 3 free LPG cylinders per year under their 'Antyodaya Ration Card' scheme.

Goa: The Panaji state has implemented their long-pending promised scheme, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, where 3 LPG cylinders will be given free of cost to low-income families. In total, the annual assistance will be to the tune of Rs 3,000 and directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

How To Get Free Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas LPG Cylinders?

Each state has its own rules and regulations. As per reports, oil marketing companies will launch a booking process 10 to 15 days in advance ahead of the Diwali festival. The LPG beneficiaries will have to pay the cost of the cylinders during the time of booking. Post LPG delivery, the government will reportedly transfer a 100% refund of the LPG to the beneficiary's linked bank account within 3-4 days.

Why LPG Gas Cylinder E-KYC Is Crucial To Receive Free LPG Cylinders?

The LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication has become mandatory from October 1, 2026 onward, and LPG users who have not completed their e-KYC are no longer eligible for subsidy benefits for their domestic LPG cylinder refills.

As per the new rule for biometric Aadhaar authentication (BAA), LPG users are liable to complete their BAA for booking refills at the regulated Retail Selling Price (RSP) with applicable subsidy.

The reason behind making BAA mandatory is to ensure that LPG at subsidized benefits reaches only genuine and deserving households in India.

By linking Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas connections to Aadhaar, customers help prevent diversion of subsidized domestic cylinders for commercial and industrial use, remove duplicate and ineligible connections, and make subsidy delivery transparent and targeted.

The first major rule for LPG subsidy benefits under PMUY is that consumers who have already completed BAA do not need to do it again. Their refills continue as before.

The second major change is that consumers who have not completed BAA, refill booking at RSP with subsidy will be enabled once authentication is completed.

Also, states will only transfer the free LPG refunds to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
