The government does not provide the same LPG subsidy to every domestic gas consumer. The targeted subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is meant for eligible Ujjwala beneficiaries. For the financial year 2025-26, the Union Cabinet approved a subsidy of Rs. 300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for up to nine refills annually. The subsidy is proportionately adjusted for 5 kg cylinders.
The approval was estimated to cost the government more than Rs. 12,000 crore. If you are an eligible beneficiary and have not received the LPG subsidy, you can check the payment status online through the government's LPG portal and your respective oil marketing company's official website or app.
Who Is Eligible for LPG Gas Subsidy?
The first step is to find out whether you qualify for the benefit.
The LPG subsidy is provided to eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a government scheme that provides LPG connections to eligible households.
Eligible Ujjwala households can receive the targeted subsidy under the applicable government rules. They should not assume that every cylinder booking qualifies for a subsidy. Eligibility depends on the applicable scheme and government policy. If you qualify for the subsidy but have not received the amount, check your payment records and the status of your LPG and bank details.
The Union Cabinet approved Rs. 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to nine refills annually for FY26. Consumers should verify whether any revised amount or refill limit has been notified for FY27 before calculating how much subsidy they should receive.
