LPG Price Updates: Rural Commercial Gas Cylinder Prices Drop By Up To Rs 600? Check Latest Rates Today

Commercial LPG prices are seeing an unusual trend in parts of rural Uttar Pradesh, where some distributors are reportedly selling 19-kg cylinders significantly below the prevailing official rate. The development has emerged as demand from commercial users remains subdued in several rural markets, leaving some agencies with excess stock.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Fall By Up To Rs 600? Check Latest LPG Prices

According to a News18 report, commercial LPG cylinders are being sold for around Rs 200 to Rs 600 less than the official price at some agencies in rural Uttar Pradesh. In Kushinagar, for instance, the official rate for a 19-kg commercial cylinder is around Rs 2,946, while some customers are reportedly getting the cylinder for Rs 2,400 to Rs 2,700.

The lower prices are not the result of a nationwide reduction announced by oil marketing companies. Instead, the discounts are being reported at individual agencies and in selected rural markets.

Lower commercial activity in villages and small towns is understood to be one of the reasons behind the price gap. Restaurants, hotels, food stalls, sweet shops and catering businesses are among the major users of 19-kg LPG cylinders, and demand from these segments can be relatively limited in smaller markets.

With fewer commercial buyers, some agencies may be holding more filled cylinders than usual. Discounts can help distributors move the existing stock instead of allowing inventory to remain unsold.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Remain Different

Household consumers should not assume that the lower commercial LPG prices mean domestic cylinder rates have also been reduced. A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi costs around Rs 942, while the 19-kg commercial cylinder is priced at Rs 2,747.50. In Kushinagar, the reported domestic cylinder price is around Rs 1,014, against an official commercial cylinder price of nearly Rs 2,946.

The Rs 2,400-Rs 2,700 prices being reported in parts of Kushinagar relate specifically to commercial cylinders being sold by some agencies.

Rural LPG Refill Booking Window Cut To 25 Days From 45 Days

The improvement in LPG availability has also been accompanied by a change in the refill booking cycle for rural consumers. Rural customers can now reportedly book a domestic LPG refill after 25 days, compared with the earlier 45-day interval. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum have reportedly adopted the revised booking period in rural areas.

The shorter booking interval is intended to bring rural consumers closer to the refill cycle available to urban customers as supply conditions improve and earlier backlogs ease.

Lower LPG Prices Impact on Businesses

The temporary discounts could offer some relief to small businesses that rely on commercial LPG for their daily operations. Tea shops, eateries, sweet shops and catering units can see a direct reduction in fuel costs when they purchase cylinders at Rs 200-Rs 600 below the official rate.

However, the benefit is unlikely to be uniform across the region. The price offered by an agency can depend on its inventory, local demand and the movement of fresh supplies.

Customers buying commercial LPG at a discounted price should check the cylinder's weight, seal, distributor details and the amount charged on the bill. A receipt should be collected for every transaction, particularly when the amount paid is lower than the listed price. Buyers should also ensure that the cylinder is being supplied through an authorised LPG distributor.
