The latest economic survey 2025-26 shows the Madhya Pradesh economy is expanding at a steady pace. At current prices, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is projected to rise 11.14 percent and touch Rs 16.69 lakh crore in 2025-26, indicating stronger output and wider activity across key sectors compared with the previous year.
At constant prices, which remove inflation effects, Madhya Pradesh’s GSDP for 2025-26 is estimated at Rs 7.81 lakh crore. This compares with Rs 7.23 lakh crore in the earlier year, reflecting real growth of 8.04 percent. The data was presented in the economic survey 2025-26 tabled in the Assembly in Bhopal on Tuesday.

The economic survey notes a sharp rise in average earnings for residents over the past decade. Per capita income in Madhya Pradesh was Rs 38,497 in 2011-12. It is estimated to reach Rs 1,69,050 in 2025-26 at current prices. On constant prices, per capita income has climbed to Rs 76,971, signalling broader gains in living standards.
The sector-wise picture in the Madhya Pradesh economy also appears more diversified, according to the economic survey 2025-26. The primary sector’s share in GSDP is 43.09 percent, while the secondary sector accounts for 19.79 percent and the tertiary sector contributes 37.12 percent. These shares underline the continued weight of agriculture, along with growing industry and services.
The survey breaks down contributions within each broad sector of the Madhya Pradesh economy in the economic survey 2025-26. In the primary sector, crops provide the largest share at 30.17 percent. Livestock, forestry, fisheries and mining also add significant value, reflecting the state’s resource base and rural production strength.
Within the secondary sector, construction contributes 9.22 percent to GSDP, while manufacturing adds 7.22 percent. Electricity and utility services account for 3.35 percent. In the tertiary sector, trade, hotels and restaurants provide the highest share at 10.35 percent. Other services, real estate, public administration, financial services, transport and communication together support service-led expansion.

Madhya Pradesh Economy: Fiscal & Agriculture Trends
Public finances in Madhya Pradesh appear stable in the economic survey 2025-26. A revenue surplus of Rs 2,618 crore is projected for 2025-26. The fiscal deficit is pegged at 4.66 percent of GSDP. Tax revenue collections are expected to rise 13.57 percent, while the debt-to-GSDP ratio is estimated at 31.3 percent.
Agriculture continues to post higher output, according to the Madhya Pradesh economy review in the economic survey 2025-26. In 2024-25, total crop production grew 7.66 percent and foodgrain output jumped 14.68 percent. Milk production reached 225.95 lakh tonnes. Under rural development, 72,975 kilometres of rural roads and 40.82 lakh rural houses have been completed.
The industrial profile of the Madhya Pradesh economy, as captured in the economic survey 2025-26, indicates rising investment and jobs. The state has allotted 6,125 acres of land to 1,028 industrial units. These units have proposed investment worth Rs 1.17 lakh crore, with potential employment generation estimated at about 1.7 lakh positions.
Startup activity also shows momentum. There are 1,723 startups operating in Madhya Pradesh, supported by 103 incubation centres. Tourist arrivals have increased as well, with the economic survey 2025-26 reporting that the number of visitors has reached 13.18 crore, giving an additional boost to the services part of the Madhya Pradesh economy.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav linked these trends to national leadership and governance choices during the presentation of the economic survey 2025-26. At the upper primary level, it has come down to 6.3 percent. Education receives 10.37 percent of the total budget, and the number of technical institutes in the state has gone up.
