Madhya Pradesh exports to Latin America rise 19% as Mohan Yadav seeks deeper ties
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called for stronger trade and investment links with Latin American and Caribbean countries at the Indore forum. He said the state’s exports to the region rose 19% to INR 3,835 crore in 2025–26. He highlighted opportunities across pharmaceuticals, agriculture, IT, energy, mining, logistics, manufacturing, and tourism.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday called for closer trade and investment links with Latin American and Caribbean countries. Mohan Yadav said the state’s exports to the region rose 19 per cent to Rs 3,835 crore in 2025-26. Mohan Yadav added that several sectors offered room for joint work and business growth.

Mohan Yadav made the remarks while inaugurating the India-Latin America and the Caribbean Countries Trade and Investment Forum 2026 in Indore. Mohan Yadav said India was emerging as an economic powerhouse under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was contributing strongly to India’s wider economic rise.
Madhya Pradesh exports and Latin American and Caribbean trade
Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh exported goods worth around Rs 70,000 crore each year worldwide. Mohan Yadav said the government aimed to raise this figure to Rs 1 lakh crore by December 2028. Mohan Yadav urged businesses to use partnerships to deepen engagement with Latin American and Caribbean markets.
Mohan Yadav said cooperation could grow in pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food processing, and information technology. Mohan Yadav also listed biotechnology, energy and mining as priority areas. Logistics, manufacturing and tourism were also flagged as sectors where ties could expand with Latin American and Caribbean countries.
India-Latin America and the Caribbean Forum and connectivity plans
Uruguay’s Ambassador to India Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla spoke at the inaugural session. Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla said Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047 was reflected in Madhya Pradesh’s progress. Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla said states such as Madhya Pradesh could widen trade and industrial cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean partners.
Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla said work was under way to improve connectivity with the region. Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla said maritime routes were being explored to speed up goods movement. The remarks linked trade growth to smoother shipping links between India and Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Trade and investment forum participation and export support measures
Around 300 participants attended the conference, including diplomatic representatives from 15 countries. The list included Uruguay, Cuba, El Salvador, Panama, Guyana, Guatemala, Peru and Mexico. Exporters from Madhya Pradesh were also present, alongside other stakeholders linked to trade and investment activity.
During the event, the Madhya Pradesh government presented investment opportunities and industrial infrastructure. The state also showcased export potential across multiple sectors. Officials proposed steps to strengthen export infrastructure cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries, with a focus on practical systems and support.
The proposed measures included export facilitation centres and quality testing and certification facilities. Plans also covered upgrading export hubs and improving buyer-seller linkages. The state suggested better export finance and risk coverage mechanisms, along with skill development for exporters, to support sustained trade with the region.
