Maharashtra, an Industrial Powerhouse, Fuels Nation's Growth: CM Shinde

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that India is progressing in the Amrit Kaal, a period of prosperity and growth, with Maharashtra playing a crucial role as the nation's growth engine. He highlighted the Mukhya Mantri Maji Ladki Bahin Yojana, a flagship scheme for women's welfare, set to be launched on August 17.

Maharashtra Fuels Indias Growth

Shinde emphasised Maharashtra's significant contributions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He spoke during the inauguration of the new administrative building of the Kulgaon-Badlapur Municipal Council in Thane district. "Maharashtra is not just the heart of finance and industry but also a powerhouse in agriculture and infrastructure," he said.

Focus on Women's Welfare

The Chief Minister elaborated on the Ladki Bahin Yojana, which aims to financially empower women and boost the state's economy. The scheme will provide underprivileged women aged 21-65 with a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500, with an annual family income cap of Rs 2.5 lakh for beneficiaries.

Shinde recounted a recent decision regarding the scheme's testing phase. He instructed officials to deposit Rs 3,000 (two months' instalment) instead of a symbolic Re 1 in select beneficiaries' bank accounts. "We must ensure that the system is tested thoroughly," he explained.

Addressing Criticisms

The Chief Minister addressed criticisms from political opponents who labelled the scheme as an electoral gimmick and financially unviable. "The court has already dismissed their petitions against the scheme," he said. Shinde insisted that his government believes in giving rather than taking, contrasting his administration's performance with that of the previous government.

"The earlier government was known for taking hafta (protection money), while our government deposits hafta money for welfare directly into the accounts of our sisters," Shinde asserted. He mentioned that his administration has implemented 107 schemes specifically for women and is preparing a comprehensive booklet detailing these initiatives.

Personal Connection

Shinde shared a personal anecdote about his mother's struggles to highlight his connection to ordinary citizens' challenges. "I understand the significance of Rs 1,500. My mother managed our family's finances under tough circumstances," he noted. He believes this scheme will support families and boost the economy as women spend on essential needs.

The Chief Minister reassured citizens of his government's commitment to listening and responding to their needs and grievances. "If anyone comes to you with doubts or criticisms, show them the slippers. This government is here to serve the people, and we will continue to do so with sincerity and dedication," he maintained.

Shinde hailed the Ladki Bahin Yojana as a landmark initiative, positioning it as a cornerstone of his administration's efforts to support women. "This is not just an electoral promise but a reality for the women of Maharashtra," he declared.

He emphasised that all beneficiaries would receive the support they need, dismissing opposition criticisms. "Our government remains steadfast in its resolve," Shinde stated firmly.

The Chief Minister concluded by highlighting Maharashtra's achievements across various sectors. "Our government is dedicated to fostering development across all sectors, ensuring that there is no shortage of funds for progress," he said.
