Maharashtra Milk Price Hike: Milk to Cost 10% More From August 11; Check Updated Prices

Consumers across Maharashtra will have to pay more for milk from Tuesday, August 11th, as the Milk Producers and Processing Professionals Welfare Association has announced a Rs.2 per litre milk price hike for both cow milk and buffalo milk, while dairy products are also expected to become more expensive in the coming weeks.

The latest Milk price hike has been announced to reduce the operational costs, including higher diesel prices, transportation expenses, milk procurement costs, and processing charges.

Maharashtra Milk Prices Revised From August 11

Under the revised pricing structure, cow milk will cost Rs. 62 per litre rising by Rs. 2 per Litre from the earlier Rs. 60 per litre. Similarly the buffalo milk will now cost Rs. 78 per litre from the earlier Rs. 76 per litre up by Rs. 2 per litre. The revised milk prices will come into effect across Maharashtra from August 11th.

Why Are Milk Prices Increasing in Maharashtra?

As per the Milk Producers and Processing Professionals Welfare Association who are representing major cooperative and private dairy organisations across Maharashtra, said the decision was taken because of the rising costs across the dairy supply chain.

Dairy Products Could Become Up to 10% Costlier

Since milk is the primary raw material for dairy products, the impact of the milk price hike is expected to impact other dairy products which could see milk price increases of up to 10% over the coming weeks. Consumers may have to pay more for products such as Curd, Butter, Paneer, Ghee, Cheese, Flavoured milk, Yogurt & other Milk-based sweets.

Price Hike Trend Across India

Over the past several months, multiple dairy companies across southern states and Maharashtra have increased retail milk prices by upto Rs. 3 per litre due to rising production costs.

Earlier this year Gokul Dairy increased the retail price of buffalo milk by Rs. 2 per litre, raising it from Rs. 74 to Rs. 76 in February 2026.
The Retail milk associations in Pune also implemented a Rs. 2 per litre hike from March 1, 2026.
