Maharashtra Rains! Orange Alert On Nagpur, Yellow Alert On Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, More Cities; IMD Monsoon Alert

Monsoon has finally arrived in Maharashtra, with some cities recording light to moderate rains on June 21, 2026. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts in some cities. There is an expectation of light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and heavy wings in some cities till June 27, 2026. However, the IMD also believes some regions will continue to face hot and humid conditions.

Orange Alerts In Maharashtra

IMD has issued orange alerts for cities and villages of Yavatmal, Nagpur, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli.

Yellow Alerts In Maharashtra

Further, IMD declared yellow alert in cities like Mumbai, Nanded, Solapur, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg.

As per the latest update of IMD, Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand & Bihar, and some parts of Chhattisgarh around 23rd June, 2026.

Mumbai Rains Today

The Mahanagari, Mumbai, witnessed its first spell of rains in the early hours of Sunday, June 21. Data of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that the highest rainfall was of 24 mm between 6 am and 7 am, recorded near Ramabai Municipal School in Ghatkopar. This was followed by 20 mm and Mankhurd Fire Station with 16 mm rainfall at Chembur Fire Station.

In the morning, 25 mm of rainfall each was witnessed in Worli Seaface Municipal School and Savitribai Phule Municipal School. Also, the G-South ward office in Lower Parel welcomed 21 mm of rain, and the Worli Fire Station saw 17 mm of rain.

Mumbai Monsoon Weather Update:

For the next 24 hours, IMD predicts a partly cloudy sky in Mumbai with the possibility of occasional light to moderate spells of rain/thundershower in the city and suburbs. Maximum & Minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 deg. C. and 28 deg. C.

Meanwhile, for the next 48 hours, IMD sees a partly cloudy sky with thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain and gusty winds in the city and suburbs. Maximum & Minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 deg. C. and 26 deg. C.
