Reserve Bank Governor Sanjay Malhotra has urged his colleagues to aim for excellence and contribute to achieving the vision of a developed India. He reassured the staff that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is now his family. "I exhort you to strive for perfection in performing our critical roles as we enter Amrit Kaal and support in the realisation of our vision of a Viksit Bharat," Malhotra stated in a message to staff.

Malhotra, who assumed his role as RBI Governor last Thursday, faces numerous challenges, such as balancing inflation and growth and managing pressure on the rupee. He emphasised the importance of continuous improvements and kaizen practices for organisational success. "Continuous improvements and kaizens improvement are essential for any organisation to excel," he noted, encouraging employees to maintain and enhance the high standards already set.
Commitment to Teamwork and Values
The governor highlighted the need for RBI employees to uphold key public service values like integrity, impartiality, industriousness, objectivity, accountability, decisiveness, and transparency. Malhotra stated that the RBI plays a crucial role in citizens' lives through functions such as monetary policy formulation, maintaining price stability, operating the currency and credit system, and managing foreign exchange.
Expressing his commitment to teamwork, Malhotra said he believes in collaborative decision-making. "I will maintain an open-door policy and remain accessible to each one of you, irrespective of rank or seniority," he assured, welcoming frank and open discussions. He reiterated his dedication to the welfare of his colleagues and their families as his top priority.
Vision for RBI's Future
Malhotra concluded his message by expressing eagerness to work with RBI employees to elevate the institution further. "I would like to reassure you that this august institution is my family," he said, emphasising his role as head of this family. He looks forward to collaborating with staff to help the revered institution achieve greater heights.
