Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal Advocates for Humane Treatment of Delivery Partners in Malls

Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, recently highlighted the need for malls to treat delivery partners more compassionately. He shared insights from his personal experience as a delivery executive for the company. Goyal and his wife, Grecia Munoz, who now goes by Gia Goyal on Instagram, took on delivery roles in Gurugram to understand the challenges faced by delivery partners.

Zomato CEO Urges Malls to Support Delivery Partners

Goyal shared his observations through a social media post, stating: "During my second order, I realised that we need to work with malls more closely to improve working conditions for all delivery partners. And malls also need to be more humane to delivery partners. What do you think?" This post was accompanied by a video detailing his experience.

Challenges Faced by Delivery Partners

While picking up an order from Haldirams at Ambience Mall in Gurugram, Goyal encountered several obstacles. He was directed to use a different entrance and realised that delivery partners were expected to take the stairs. Upon re-entering through the main entrance, he confirmed there were no elevators available for them.

Goyal further explained that he climbed to the third floor only to discover that delivery partners were not allowed inside the mall. They had to wait on the stairs for their orders. During this time, he interacted with fellow delivery partners and gathered valuable feedback from them.

Insights and Feedback

The Zomato CEO managed to collect the order by sneaking in when the staircase guard was on a break. This experience underscored the difficulties faced by delivery personnel and highlighted areas where improvements are needed. Goyal's initiative aims to foster better working conditions for those in the delivery sector.

Goyal's firsthand experience sheds light on the everyday struggles of delivery workers and calls for a more empathetic approach from mall managements. His actions reflect a commitment to enhancing the work environment for all delivery partners associated with Zomato.
