Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the title of the best airport in the under-five million passenger category at 'Wings India 2024,' Asia's largest civil aviation exhibition. The prestigious award was presented to MIA by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during a grand ceremony held in Hyderabad on January 18, as announced in a press release issued by MIA on Friday.
Recognition of Excellence
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly organized the four-day event in Hyderabad from January 18. This significant recognition highlights MIA's exceptional performance and unwavering commitment to providing top-notch services to its passengers.
Impressive Passenger Growth
In the calendar year 2023, MIA handled an impressive 19,27,466 passengers, marking a substantial growth of 14.17% compared to the previous year, when it served 16,88,287 passengers. Notably, December 2023 witnessed the highest passenger traffic in MIA's history, with 2,03,654 passengers passing through its gates. This remarkable achievement underscores MIA's rapid growth and increasing popularity since commencing commercial operations on October 31, 2020.
Commitment to Passenger Satisfaction
MIA has consistently prioritized passenger satisfaction and convenience, as evidenced by its exceptional Airport Service Quality (ASQ) customer satisfaction rating of 4.94 on a scale of 5. Furthermore, the airport maintains an incredibly low passenger complaint rate of 0.055/1000 passengers, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to addressing passenger concerns promptly and effectively.
Key Initiatives Driving Success
MIA's success in securing this prestigious award can be attributed to several key initiatives that have significantly enhanced its operations and passenger experience. These initiatives include a strong focus on smooth operations supported by robust infrastructure, continuous efforts to improve passenger experience and services, the introduction of the MIA Super App Adani One, a customer relationship management tool for swift resolution of online passenger grievances, engaging passenger engagement activities, and the implementation of eco-friendly measures.
Continued Commitment to Excellence
MIA remains committed to maintaining and surpassing these high standards in 2024 and beyond. The airport's ongoing dedication to operational efficiency, passenger satisfaction, and sustainable practices will undoubtedly contribute to its continued success and recognition as a leading airport in India.
