Digital navigation company CE Info Systems, which owns the MapmyIndia brand, has accused Ola Electric of copying its data and reverse-engineering its app to create Ola Maps. According to sources, a legal notice has been sent to Ola Electric after discussions between the two companies failed.

Ola Electric's Response
An Ola Electric spokesperson addressed the allegations, stating, "We would like to state unequivocally that these allegations are false, malicious and misleading. Ola Electric stands by the integrity of its business practices. We will suitably respond to the notice shortly." The company is currently preparing for a Rs 6,100-crore IPO.
CE Info Systems claims that Ola Electric violated an agreement signed in June 2021. The MapmyIndia owner alleges that Ola copied data from its maps for unjust commercial gains. This development follows a statement by Ola Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on social media platform X.
Allegations of Data Breach
Aggarwal announced that Ola had stopped using Google Maps, which cost the company Rs 100 crore annually, and had switched to its own Ola Maps. He has been vocal about developing an indigenous AI and cloud platform to provide better prices and services for start-ups compared to foreign tech giants.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, mentioned that the legal notice was sent after talks with Ola failed. "As of now, a legal notice has been sent to Ola. It has been sent after discussions failed," the source said.
CE Info Systems' legal notice reportedly states that Ola Electric breached their agreement by copying data from MapmyIndia's maps. The digital navigation firm alleges that this was done for illegal motives and unjust commercial benefits.
The situation remains tense as both companies prepare for potential legal battles. The outcome could significantly impact their business operations and reputations in the market.
