Market Closing: Indian Markets Tapered Down To End In Red
Indian markets washed off Tuesday morning's gains to taper down in red. Sensex lost 184 points to end at 59,727.01 and Nifty 47 points to close at 17,660.15. Much of this weakness was due to poor quarterly number postings including two heavy bellwethers, TCS and Infosys numbers.

FMCG, Consumer durables, Financials, Media and Oil and gas sector indices were down between 0.14 to 0.36%/. Pharma, Helathcare, Realty, Bank, Metal Auto and IT. Pharma and healthcare gained the most by 1.63% and 1.23%, while Auto and Bank marginally rose by 0.7% and 0.1% respectively.
Total 1053 stocks advanced and 972 declined on NSE, with a gain of 0.76% in mid cap index and 0.29% upward movement in small cap index.
Nestle India Limited, HCL Tech and Indusind Bank Ltd were top gainers on both the indices to rise by nearly 2%, Divi's Laboratory rallied the most to end 3% higher on Nifty. While Powergrid corporation were the biggest losers to fall on Nifty and Sensex by 3%.
Lastly, rupee fell by 7 paise against dollar in today's trade.
