Markets Open First Day Of 2020 Higher
Benchmark indices opened the day marginally higher, even as global markets were shut and there were no cues. The Sensex was trading with gains of 150 points, while the Nifty was higher by 46 points.
Analysts say that volumes are expected to rather restricted given that Foreign Portfolio Investors may choose to stay away.
Shares in Yes Bank were trading slightly lower after reports that CARE downgraded the rating on infrastructure bonds to A/Negative {from A+ (Credit Watch with Developing implications) and Negative outlook assigned}.
Shares in Lakshmi Vilas Bank were higher even as S Sundar resigned as Chief Financial Officer of the bank. Skipper too was higher despite CARE downgrading the long term rating on the company's bank facilities to BBB+ with a stable outlook, from A with a negative outlook.
Heavyweights stocks like HDFC, HDFC Bank and Reliance which saw profit booking on Tuesday, were once again seeing some buying support in trade.
ONGC and Bajaj Auto were the two Nifty stocks that were trading in the negative.
