Markets Open In The Green; Nifty Holds Above 12800

Indian benchmark indices tracking gains on the SGX Nifty opened positive. Sensex at 9: 16 am was up 0.36% or 158 point at 43758 while Nifty was up by 0.33% or 42 points and held above 12800 points.

Among early gainers in trade today are stocks such as Hindalco, Larsen, Bajaj twins and Titan while laggards include ICICI Bank, SBI Life Insurance, UPL, Reliance and HDFC Bank.

Nifty Bank and Nifty PSU Bank after whopping losses in yesterday's deal were trading with modest gains.

Vodafone Idea shares traded strong by over 3 percent after the telco informed about11.15% stake sale in Indus for a cash consideration of Rs. 37.6 billion in accordance with the terms of the agreement and out of the consideration received from Infratel, the Company has made a prepayment of Rs. 24 billion which will be adjusted in line with terms of the agreement.

Spicejet extended its gain for the second day rallying as much as 7% in early deal after the US FAA lifted ban on Boeing 737 Max aircraft which are part of its fleet.

Asian markets were mixed in early Friday deals. South Korea's Kospi was up 0.1 per cent, Japan's Nikkei slipped 0.4 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.3 per cent.
